Fare Policy
PurposeTo establish a policy that defines the types of fares and the amount of fare charged for ADA complementary paratransit services, as well as those Van Tran services operated at a premium fare. PolicyVan Tran shall adhere to the following fare categories for ADA complementary paratransit services:
Passenger fare categories (full fare or reduced) are determined as specified under City Code Sec. 2-22. "City Sun Tran and paratransit service systems fare subsidy program for low-income city residents; fare subsidies; eligibility and prohibited activity." Whether a passenger may have a PCA is determined by the Regional ADA Eligibility Office. Van Tran utilizes an electronic fare program. The passenger fare shall be paid by charging the trip to a personal debit account that can be set up through the City's Special Services Office. The debit account must have enough funds to cover the trip. The fare shall be paid per passenger per trip. (i.e., from one origin to one destination). Nonpayment of the fare is cause for denying transit service. In the event a passenger is unable to pay for the trip, the inbound and/or return trip will be provided. The rider's record will show that one or two trips were provided without the fare being paid. No further trips will be provided until the cost of the trip(s) has been paid to Van Tran. |
